One of the most surprising aspects of Elden Ring’s popularity is how quickly the community has collectively latched on to the lore, world, and characters presented throughout the game. Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s newest game and yet, various facets of the worldbuilding have already impacted many players, to the point where fans have started to notice real-life versions of the giant pot enemies from Elden Ring. Though, a recent piece of Elden Ring fan content is much more personal in nature.

Over on Reddit, a user named ChuckD385 posted a few pictures of a custom birthday card his daughter had drawn for them that was themed after Elden Ring. The front portion of the card shows the player character riding Torrent, the in-game mount, towards the Erdtree, which is one of the most integral visual features seen throughout Elden Ring.

In addition to the Erdtree, the user’s daughter also included a piece of crossover art between Elden Ring and Kirby, which depicts Kirby as Malenia, one of the most powerful bosses in Elden Ring. The final page of the card has the words “Happy Birthday Tarnished” in an ornate font similar to the one used in Elden Ring whenever the player dies. The user’s daughter ends the card by simply stating, “you are old.”

Not only is this a unique way for a daughter to show appreciation towards her father, but also an interesting form factor in terms of fan content. Oftentimes, fans will release fan art for no other reason than to share their talent with others, such was the case with the recent fan art that combined Elden Ring with Berserk. Thus, to see fan art presented as a hand-drawn birthday card is quite impressive to see.

In any case, it will be interesting to see how Elden Ring’s popularity will flourish in the months to come. It’s likely that just as other standalone FromSoftware titles that aren’t directly associated with the Dark Souls series, such as Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, have managed to retain their popularity for several years, Elden Ring will probably manage to do the same.

Elden Ring is currently available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
