Call of Duty: Warzone’s map of Verdansk took a similar approach when designing iconic locations. Fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have found multiple multiplayer maps built into the Verdansk environment, and Ground War took place in its downtown district. While this does make the environment familiar, it also helps add to the immersive nature of the game’s narrative.

On Reddit, player 3bjake ponders the possibility of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout map appearing in the Warzone environment. Although the map takes place in a dramatically different world, the dimensions and locations could easily work in the Call of Duty: Warzone engine. This idea was sparked shortly after Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s integration, as new content from the Black Ops timeline started appearing around Verdansk. While this would not replace the current map, many fans would likely enjoy seeing it as an alternative option to large-scale battle royale combat.
The player clarifies their position in the comments and points out that this would not be an unusual decision by the game’s developers. Call of Duty: Warzone’s Rebirth Island is a remaster of the map Alcatraz that appeared in Blackout prior. Rather than being an exact copy, fans could see the area reimagined in the Modern Warfare engine, and it had new features scattered across the already expansive environment.
In the comments, players say they would welcome this decision with open arms. Call of Duty: Warzone is planning a map change, and revisiting the old locations from Black Ops history would create an interesting experience. Many fans enjoyed the multiple biomes, water-based combat, and additional features found only in the Blackout environment. If these features came to Call of Duty: Warzone, many players believe that the game would grow in popularity.
Many community members believe that it is not likely this would happen. Despite this, Call of Duty: Warzone’s new map is inevitable, and it could easily take lessons from the Blackout experience. There are many areas that Verdansk could improve on, and players believe the answers could lie within the past battle royale experience.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
