Joining the Pokemon series in Gen 3, Aron is a dual-type Pokemon with Steel and Rock typings. As these typings suggest, this creature has a unique look that stands out due to the armor that covers its body. While its armor is predominately gray, one gamer thought this hard outer casing was reminiscent of another character in video games if the color scheme was changed.

While the Pokemon and Metroid franchises might not seem to have much in common, that did not stop one creative fan, known as gumlip on Reddit, from making something special. According to the Reddit user, they had created “Samus Aron,” which was a clever mixing of the names of the heroine Samus Aran and the Steel/Rock-type Pokemon Aron. While the title was doubtlessly clever, the new appearance of the pocket monster was just as notable.
In the image, the Pokemon Aron was placed in front of a background from the Metroid series. However, gumlip did not stop there. The Reddit user elected to change the color scheme of the pocket monster to match the armor of Samus Aran more appropriately. Gone were the white and gray colors, and in their place were red, orange, and yellow. In addition, the area around its eye was tinted greenish, giving it the appearance of a visor on a helmet.
This new fan art has caught the attention of Metroid and Pokemon fans on Reddit. The post already has more than 11.2K upvotes, and many users have been leaving comments about the artwork. In the comment section, some fans thought that the colors of Samus Aran’s armor worked surprisingly well on Aron. Furthermore, some users suggested that gumlip make an alternate version of the picture, basing the design of Aron on the coloration of the Gravity Suit from games like Metroid Dread. According to one user, this could work as the pocket monster’s shiny version.
It is often interesting to see what types of unusual creations Pokemon fans make based on the variety of creatures featured in the series. Besides this Metroid-themed fan art, another gamer previously created a picture that replaced the Alaskan Bull Worm from SpongeBob SquarePants with a giant Wiglett. Creations like these suggest that there are plenty of meme-worthy Pokemon in the series, which begs the question of what creative players will come up with next.
