Whether it was the material of the bag or the principle of the matter, this upset some of the most diehard Fallout fans. After all, owning the Fallout 76 Collector’s edition suggests that the owner could be part of the core base for Bethesda’s role-playing franchise. This led to Bethesda announcing that those who still had proof of purchase could submit a ticket and receive a canvas bag replacement.

Of course, those applying for the replacement did not expect to have to wait an extended period of time. It seems those who have submitted their ticket to receive a Power Armor Edition canvas bag replacement will have to wait four to six months for manufacturing and delivery, per an e-mail sent out by Bethesda Support. And while some are likely to be happy to be receiving compensation whatsoever, others will likely be irked by this wait.

Because of this, Bethesda is also giving those approved for a replacement 500 complementary atoms in the meantime. Some of these players may very well choose to hold onto these atoms until Bethesda reveals exactly what lunchboxes are, because it currently seems as if they are pay-to-win microtransactions. Lunchboxes are not currently in the game, but a recent datamine suggests they could be coming soon.

On the other hand, some may wish to disregard the atoms altogether, as it is the equivalent of just $5 USD. It’s not even enough to purchase an in-game canvas bag in Fallout 76, which is ironic if nothing else. Still, it can be saved up, so it’s hard to say how fans will react to this compensation, especially in the face of an incredibly long wait time for the real bag.

Fallout 76 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
