Acid is a crafting component that is required for smelting ore into usable material, producing gunpowder and flamer fuel, and even for making lemonade. It can be dropped by creatures, or harvested from the Waste Acid deposits spread across the expansive map in Fallout 76.

Creatures That Drop Acid in Fallout 76

The four creature types that provide Acid when killed are cave crickets, yao guai, snallygasters, and Grafton monsters. Cave crickets can often be found in Lucky Hole Mine, the caves at Tanagra Town, and by the lake southeast of Harpers Ferry - which is also a great location to find Pre-War Money in Fallout 76. Yao guai, the less adorable, mutated descendants of American black bears, are often found roaming around Site Alpha, Dolly Sods Wilderness and the nearby Campground, and Mountainside Bed & Breakfast.

Snallygasters, the creepy cryptids that originated from genetic experimentation, can usually be found at Toxic Larry’s Meat ’n Go, by the crashed Vertibird at the back of Hemlock Holes, and between the Charleston Capitol Building and the Hornwright Industrial Headquarters. As for Grafton monsters, players may be able to find some by the dam that lies east of the Charleston Capitol Building, around the Charleston trainyard, and south of Hemlock Holes.

Resource Deposits

Waste Acid deposits can often be found around public workshops. One can be found at Abandoned Bog Town in Cranberry Bog, and another is located at Hemlock Holes Maintenance in the Toxic Valley. In the Savage Divide region, which also houses one of the few guaranteed locations to find a Behemoth in Fallout 76, players can locate four separate Acid deposits: at Federal Disposal Field HZ-21, Monongah Power Plant, Relay Tower LW-B1-22, and just southwest of Hopewell Cave.

Players can maximize their harvest from these deposits by installing Mineral Extractors over them. It’s also advisable for players to familiarize themselves with the various resources provided at the many workshop locations in Fallout 76, so they can optimize their resource-gathering expeditions. As Vault Boy might say, “Hard work is happy work.”

Fallout 76 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
