For those unaware, Fallout 4’s Far Harbor expansion is set to launch on May 19, so that leaves a relatively tiny window for the feature to become accessible. Once it draws nearer to the date of the mods being available for Xbox One players, though, those fans should expect Bethesda to release more information as to how one can take part in the beta.
As seen in the tweet below, Bethesda not only divulged the news for PC and Xbox One mods, but also attached a previously revealed trailer detailing how the Creation Kit will work on the console mods’ release date. Those who haven’t seen the footage before would do well to check it out, as Fallout 4’s director Todd Howard and his team explains how tools will be accessed for players to generate fan-made content, and how the in-game interface is supposed to operate, as it gives people the ability to search for mods, while also letting players bookmark, favorite, rate, and give feedback.

Ever since Bethesda’s E3 2015 announcement for console mods in Fallout 4, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One fans have been clamoring for any information about the feature, and in just a few short weeks, most, if not all of their questions regarding how the game-altering component will function are to be answered. While some PS4 fans might be a tad envious since Xbox One owners get to access to the mod beta first, the wait shouldn’t be much longer, as Sony’s system is set to receive the feature in June.
Taking all of this into consideration, Bethesda is now on the precipice of redefining the conventions of console gaming. Should the introduction of mods to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One through Fallout 4 be successful, there’s no doubt that more studios will eventually follow suit and include mods as a standard feature with future console games. Of course, there are hardware limitations that will need to be overcome at first, but with enough time, PC players won’t be the only ones having fun with mods. In due course, there could possibly be a version of a Macho Man Randy Savage mod for almost every console video game out there, or a mod representing practically anything gamers’ imaginations can come up with for that matter.
Excited for Fallout 4’s console mods? If so, are you going to be able to take part in the Xbox One beta later this month, or are you going to have to wait until June for PS4 mods to be enacted? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
